Brave Waters supports the healing of wounded veterans, particularly those receiving care, by providing stress-free outdoor retreats that foster camaraderie among veterans, their caregivers, and the veteran community.
We organize retreats in partnership with the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) and the Reno Vet Center, with support from volunteers including members of Task Force Garrison, local community service organizations, and NDOW volunteer instructors. Our programs are funded by private donors.
Our signature retreat is usually held annually at Hobart Reservoir in the Spooner Backcountry. Because Hobart Reservoir is closed for dam repairs, the 2026 retreat will take place on a private reservoir. We hope to return to Hobart Reservoir in 2027.
We have also teamed with Task Force Garrison to provide additional outdoor adventures to the veteran community of northern Nevada.
